Not after a week later did I find out from a friend that we just visited one of Yahoo's Best Lakes pick - Lake Bled, Slovenia. A beautiful summer destination, Lake Bled or Bled appears the serene, quiet town good for mellow travelers only...BUT behind its tranquil atmosphere bursts numerous wild activities suited for thrill seekers - whitewater rafting, canyoning, Alpine climbing and canoeing to name just a few. We, however decided to stay on land to enjoy the sights, and the less strenuous alternatives. We rode the Toboggan - a one-man/woman downhill, 1000' long roller coaster ride, visited the Bled castle (thanks to our uber generous friends), hiked around Vintgar Gorge and played an 18-hole miniature golf. Hmmm...I wonder how Bled's during winter?
